Charter Member Sam Alfano passes away

December 27, 2011

Sam Alfano passed away on December 18, 2011.  Sam helped to found Mission Chapter Toastmasters in April 1978 and served as our Sergeant at Arms for most of those years.  He was active in the club up until a few weeks before his death. He will be dearly missed by all the members. Sam was a great mentor and friend to us all – if we could just hear one of Sam’s beloved jokes again. Sam was also a member of Santa Barbara “Club 5″ Toastmasters and invented Powertalk, a public speaking educational event which Sam championed and was held for many years at Santa Barbara City College.

A service was held for Sam on December 22nd at Saint Rafael’s in Goleta. Mission members Larry, Ron, Grace, Pat, James, Jim, Zac and Ann with baby Zac, Stephanie with baby Joseph, Christine, Lily and other current and past members attended.
