Invitation to Mission Chapter Toastmaster’s February 28, 2012 Meeting

We have waited a long year for this evening.  Mission Chapter Toastmaster’s Annual Tall Tale meeting.  The chance for everyone to tell the biggest bestest lie, fabrication, falsehood, nonsense they can cook up.  Our mission to help us become the best darned fibbers in Santa Barbara and Goleta and maybe the world or even the universe (or now maybe universes).  All in 3-5 minutes. Wow.   Here is the link for location and time.

Our Toastmaster for this meeting will be Grace. Everyone is encouraged to participate. There will also be some other roles to be filled.If you need the seed of a lie to help you get started concocting your whopper or for more information please email Grace at grachow@aol.com

Seeds for lies will also be available at the meetings for impromptu Tall Tales.

Stretching was the theme of the meeting. VP of Education Christine was our Presiding Officer. We had 8 in attendance.

  • Jim gave an account of how ones ego can be an impediment to fulfillment and productivity.
  • Keith provided points for a successful ‘tall tale’ speech including: story must be impossible; start with a ‘real-life’ situation, then give it a twist; stay within 3-5 min. time; have fun; if you get stuck, move on.

  • Ron gave a plebeian view of the Superbowl reveiling little known facts such as if you were to line up all people watching the Superbowl the line would go five times around the earth..
