November 14, 2017, Meeting Notes
There were 10 members present at our meeting on November 14, 2017, along with our guest Joseph Skoda, Division Director for Division E.
Our Toastmaster was Steve.
The theme was Serendipity.
Robert spoke about his experiences with navigating Pathways to find a speech topic as both a serial procrastinator and as someone technological impatience, and wanting to talk about the latest developments regarding the Trump travel ban. POST-SCRIPT: Christine (DTM), District 33 Pathways Guide, and immediate past Division Director, offered to help. Robert overcame his lack of knowledge and impatience, and is now doing Pathways. If you are struggling with getting started, Christine can be very helpful.
Norma gave a persuasive and inspirational speech about the power of words that are spoken to us and that we speak over ourselves, and told how words affected her. She encouraged us to use what we have learned in Toastmasters to encourage others.
Alyce gave us her advice for planning for retirement over the long term, based on her own experience, and recommended that we manage our own assets.
Best speaker: Norma
Best evaluator: Jen, for her evaluation of Robert‘s speech
Best table topics: Grace
